Thoughtful!

“When you're young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then, you grow up and learn to be cautious. You could break a bone or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don't leap at all because there's not always someone there to catch you. And in life, there's no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?”

"I'm looking for love.
Real love.
Ridiculous
Inconvenient
Consuming
Can't-live-without-each-other love."

"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."

- Carrie Bradshaw

I have taken the time this summer to revisit Sex and the City all over again. I have pulled some of my favorite thoughtful quotes from the show and posted them on here.

The first quote is meaningful to me because I do think that people get more cautious in general about everything as time goes on. As kids, we were almost fearless. If someone said jump, we would jump and wouldn't bother to think about the consequences. Now, if someone says jump, we look around, see if its safe, ask why we're jumping etc. I feel as if I am just scared of everything now and can't be carefree.

The second quote is meaningful to me because I do think that whatever our definitions are of "love" and whether we believe in it or not, we are looking for IT. We want the ridiculous, the inconvenient, fiery emotion that everyone talks about. If you've noticed, the first person you thought you were in love with (called your first love), you loved them so passionately with all the fiber of your being. After that relationship happened, have you really been able to give yourself as freely as you did then? Again, you're scared, you're cautious and you may have given up or will give up chances to this thing, this crazy love you want so badly, but cannot seem to let yourself have.

Third, this quote is absolutely fantastic because it keeps reminding me that I have to love myself first before anything. Your own relationship with yourself I believe is truly the most exciting, the most challenging, and the most significant relationship you'll ever have. And really, if you can find someone who loves the person you love, well that really is just fabulous!
