Ohh Halloween

My Halloween was actually Thursday night - I ended up wearing some horns on the top of my head (simple headband - $2), sparkly cat earrings ($2), a mini skirt and a black top. I have no idea what I was, but regardless, it was fun. I've been wanting to wear a mini skirt for a long time but to no avail since it's kind of skanky but I can't be wearing skanky right now in my life! ... ^^

Anyway, it was special because Emily - my freshman roommate at UCSD and I celebrated together with some dinner, going to a pre-halloween bar night party, and then to Page Bar for a really crowded and sweaty bar night.

Now, it's officially Halloween ... and I'm home alone watching Heroes and eating food. Yay ~ After Heroes, I plan on continuing my reading of the book "The Historian" - which is about Dracula - perfect for tonight! :)

Keenan sent me this link last night which I will forward to you for your enjoyment ::

The perfect sandwich

So, I've been having a not-so-great week ... in fact, I would say its been a horrible week so far. Bad days all around. Today's bad day started out with me, dropping my blowdryer (I've never done that before in all my life) onto the floor, and breaking - here's the worst part - halfway through drying my hair! As you know, San Francisco is a cold, windy city - and today, of course the weather calls for FOG LIKE NO OTHER! Anyway, I had to just put my very frizzy hair up and suck it up. I wanted to cry ... how come nothing is going my way.

Anyway, of course food always cheers me up. I always have a craving for something and when I get to eat it, I get really happy. Today I wanted a vietnamese sandwich. I don't know why I didn't discover this before in my life but I think last month was the first time I've ever had one. So I took a nice walk in the civic/tenderloin area where I'm working (CA Superior Court in San Francisco) and get myself a chicken sandwich. It was delicious. I'm not a big fan of sandwiches - in fact, I usually don't like them. I have this general feeling that when I eat a sandwich for a meal, its not what I call a satisfying meal. But, vietnamese sandwiches - maybe its like that hint of asian style between the bread that satisfies me. Whatever it is, I feel very very satisfied after eating a simple chicken vietnamese sandwich. I'm happily full for now ... until 1:30 when I have to start doing work again .... sigh

Somebody save me --- :*(

PS: I am looking for a good blowdryer with a diffuser .... suggestions would be nice ~

The perfect chair

This is the most perfect chair ever ~ I don't know if you've ever sat in one of these. My good friend JO has one and I love going over to her house and sitting in it. I'm a huge fan of reading books and/or curling up somewhere to play my nintendo ds or watch tv. This chair has to be one of the best kinds of chairs to curl up in to do just about anything ... imagine, a rainy or foggy day in San Francisco, curled up in this chair with all my fleece blankets around the house, reading a book and drinking hot chocolate ...

sigh, back to my paper

Ohh Angela & Fashion ~~

It's amazing how I don't know anything about fashion and shopping. I was watching Sex and the City the movie again the other day and I was amazed yet again how someone can buy a pair of Manolo Blanicks (spell check because I have no clue) - for $400 a pair? That's amazing to me - maybe and probably because I don't have money ... My most expensive pair of shoes are $100 and it took me a long time to bring myself to buy them.

Its true, I have no idea about fashion. I don't particularly like to shop because I'd rather spend money on eating and drinking than owning clothes (although my view on this is changing just a tiny little bit, eh JO?). I guess I don't really like the crowds and waiting in line and oh the pressure of finding something. I usually go to the store because I need something. I like to go in, get it and get out. Some people find shopping very relaxing and calming. For me however, the pressure to find something always makes me a little bit edgy and then if I don't find anything, I always feel like I just wasted a whole bunch of time walking around trying to find something.

In any case, Vogue seems to be Carrie's favorite magazine. I could never get myself to read that thing - or rather look at it. The fashion magazines have these crazy clothes pictured in them. Things I could never ever ever wear and costing something much much more than I could ever afford. Designer labels - yes ... labels I don't really know about.

I don't own a pair of designer anything. I don't even have a nice bag/purse thing. I tend to carry around cheap cheap bags - like my white one that I bought in Korea for $5. It's like a little kid's bag. Haha! Maybe its the combination of not having a sense of style, not having any money, and not really caring ... hum. Is it good or bad?

Anyway, started a new book while I was in Sacramento for the weekend: The Historian. It's on my bookshelf on your bottom right corner. I got a lot of R&R while I was sick there and about 80% better! :)

Officially Sick ~

Officially sick ...

Symptoms:
1) The worst sore throat in a while! I wake up at night in pain because I swallowed and it hurts!
2) Body aches - feeling hot and sweaty and all of a sudden feeling cold
3) Headache
4) Nose drainage - fortunately its draining into my throat instead of out of my nose

Although I've had to ditch classes and work at the court and westlaw for the past few days, feeling much better today. ~

While feeling sickly, managed to read a good book!:

Very good book - I am a huge fan of historical fictions.

ju·das strain, n. A scientific term for an organism that drives an entire species to extinction

I didn't realize that this was part of a series - Sigma Force - which is basically a shadowy covert organization: fictional of course. In this book, there is some sort of a bio-chemical outbreak that can destroy mankind and the bad guys: the Guild are after the cure so that they can use it as a bio-weapon. Of course the Sigma Force (made op of former Special Forces officers trained as experts in various scientific fields who scour the world for technologies that could help or threaten the U.S.) must stop them! It's kind of corny but still, a page-turner and a good entertainment.

The reason why I like historical fictions is because of the history and places it takes me through. Most of the historical fiction books I read, even if the story itself is fiction, the places, theories, legends, and myths are truth. This book took me through Venetian tombs, Byzantine cathedrals, and jungle-encrusted ruins—following the trail of the most fabled explorer in history: Marco Polo. I find it much more interesting to read about history in these tales than reading a history book! :) Granted not everything is true true ... but it does make me curious enough to look things up!

I can't wait to go back and start with the first Rollins Book!

Consistency and Bowling

Pretty huh? NO, I don't want my own bowling ball. It just ties into my blog post today and its really pretty pink.

So last night, (monday night) they have specials at the bowling alley (like happy hours) starting around 9:30pm. You pay $15 and you get $5 pitchers of miller high life, 3 games of bowling and shoes. Sounds like a deal right? Went there with Tommy & RK to try my hand at bowling after many many months of absence. It went pretty well. See, I have a problem with being inconsistent when I go bowling. My typical night of bowling goes like this: I do really well my first game, then I just suck from then on. I blame it on me being tired and my lack of enthusiasm after the first game. Well, despite all this, I really wanted to work on being consistent last night - so I was. Almost.

So we made a bet that night. I usually set the goal of "I will score higher than a 100" every night that I go out to bowl. I think its a pretty good goal! Anyway, Tommy and RK being pretty good bowlers decided to give me a handicap of +80 pins. And then made the bet that they will still beat me even with my handicap.

Well, I did pretty well. I think I am getting better at consistency!

And the best part about last night though is: I got to beat Tommy in a game that night - without the handicapp. AND ... I got to beat RK - without the handicap. Muahaha ... I was so happy last night.

Final Scoring for me of the night:
Game 1 - 133
Game 2 - 66 (whoops)
Game 3 - 140
Game 4 - 147

3L and Partying

It's already October 20th ... and I've only posted 3 blogs so far. What is to blame?

3L and partying, ladies and gentlemen!

I don't know what it is about this year, but I seem to do so much partying - my calendar is just full of "must go here" "must see this person" "must drink now." I'm now scheduling dinners 3 weeks in advance because my calendar fills up too fast + everyone's schedule is so hectic - its hella hard to find a time that works.

So if you want to hang out with me and you're busy too, you're going to have to wait approximately 3 weeks ~ schedule now! ^^

In the meantime, here are some fun pictures:

JOanna and my first picture at the inter-apalsa mixer - I took 2 pictures only!

Janice ... party bus.

Next to the party bus

So that's what I've been up to ... what about you?

Brisingr by Christopher Paolini

This is the 3rd book of the Inheritance series. Do you remember the movie "Eragon?" About a boy who finds a egg and the egg hatches into the dragon Saphira? I'm sure you watched the movie and thought it sucked. Well, I hope you take the time to read the books, because they are so much better. It's very creative - almost like Lord of the Rings / Harry Potter type.

Brisingr had a lot of politics involved which was good but the most gripping part of the book was at the end. The last 50 pages - I read them faster than I did the rest of the book. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who does read it, but all I could say after I finished it was ...

W .. O .. W

IL Fornaio - San Francisco

Ate at this restaurant yesterday. Food was good. Atmosphere was good. Servers were good.

Incident: So I was there talking with Tom Kim, ex President of KABA and this crazy man sitting right behind Tom Oppa basically told me to shut up. He turned around and said something along the lines of "tone it down ... your voice is too loud for the value of what you're saying ... I'm here to have dinner and listen to the music." I seriously sat there gaping at him - not because it was crazy that he thought I was being loud, but the tone and the manner in which he spoke to me. I can understand that I was being too loud - I am me afterall - my voice can definitely start getting loud as I get excited about something - BUT, we're in a public place and in a restaurant where there were plenty of other seats he could have sat at. We were definitely there first. Oppa was surprisingly kind of mean back at him calling him a jerk when he was within ear-shot. Needless to say, he definitely got up to move a little later, but damn ...

To say the least, I'm still gaping ...
