Happy Holidays ~

Although technically the holidays are almost over, still - happy holidays to you and your family. I've been in Sacramento for about a week now. My time has been spent playing games games games. I never realized what a big gaming family my sisters and I are a part of. At the moment, I'm playing lots of rockband 2 (I've been doing really well on the drums and nothing else), and Rune Factory on my little pink NDS. I did some much needed Target shopping and met up with Joanna once for lunch today. RK has also come visited me and the family once so far. He brought this really awesome bouquet of flowers - very popular with my parents.

My mom and even made me take a picture of her with it she loved it so much. It scents up the whole kitchen - its amazing.

Christmas spent at my cousin Sam's parents house. It was super fun as there was a lot of alcohol, eating and karaoke involved. My family knows how to party!! Good to know!! :)

Cheers to everyone! Happy New Years ...

What's your new years resolution?

Rock Band 2

Now that finals are over and done with and celebrations for that has finished, I am back in Sacramento totally using the crap out of my awesome boyfriend's christmas gift to me and my sisters. Thank you!

Today I played a whooping 8 hours of drums on rockband 2 on hard. Annie plays guitar on expert and Adrienne plays bass on hard. We did pretty good with our band called "idon'tcare" unlocking basically tons of songs and most recently a freakin' airplane just for us.

Wow. I am seriously in pain - sore muscles!

Merry Christmas

Your Resting Metabolic Rate

Ever wonder how many calories you're suppose to consume? Well, a nifty little article in November's Cosmo ( I got my magazine late) told me how and I will share it with you.

To figure out your personal resting metabolic rate, use this equation:

1. Your weight in pounds X 4.3
2. Add 655
3. Add your height in inches X 4.7
4. Once you get this subtotal, subtract your age X 4.7
Equals your metabolic rate.

Mine is about 1,310

Then to get a ball park figure for how many calories you need daily, multiply your resting metabolic rate by:

1. If you're sedentary - 1.2
2. If you work out moderately two or three times a week - 1.375
3. If you work out moderately three to five days a week - 1.55
4. If you work out intensely, say six to seven days per week - 1.725

I'm sedentary - so my figure is 1572 is what I can consume to maintain weight!

Let's now talk about fast metabolism. So I believe I have been blessed with a pretty fast metabolism. But still, the way I live my life (for those of you who know me), I need to learn how to maintain after I eat the way that I do. Therefore, here are some helpful hints about helping to increase your metabolism:

1. Have a cool drink - dehydration slows all body functions including metabolism. Cold water hydrates and may further your ability to burn calories as your body needs extra energy to heat it.

2. Eat spicy food! Eating spicy food with chili pepper and mustard seed can help speed up your metabolism and burn extra calories!

3. Caffeine speeds up your metabolism for a couple of hours.

4. Interval cardio - alternating high-intensity activity (jumping jacks) with lower intensity cardio (jogging)

5. Pumping iron - resistance training can increase your resting metabolic rate.

6. Eat breakfast - after not eating for 8 or so hours, your metabolism is stalled. So eating breakfast will stoke your metabolism again! Plus, it'll give you fuel in the morning! :)

7. "Vitamin B's are the oil that greases the wheels of your metabolic engine."

8. Eat often, just smaller! Apparently scaling down your caloric count too severely tricks your system into thinking that food is scarce, prompting your metabolism to freeze and your body to hang on to its fat preserves. On the other hand, if you eat more often rather than less, your metabolism gets fired up and stays elevated all day long, burning calories. So don't think drastically cutting back on your daily calorie intake would be the secret to melting away pounds!

Ok, that's all for today, folks! :)

Honorary Trusts - a device by which a person creates a trust for neither a charitable person or a private specific beneficiary (required for a valid trust) but for their pets! ^^ Trustee is bound by honor!

The City Club of San Francisco

Jane and I met Judge Mason at the Youth Law Center Reception she personally invited us to. It was at this really nice place called the The City Club of San Francisco. Apparently, it houses the $25mil painting by Diego Rivera. Of course I had to take a picture! It is also a place where normal every people like me, can NOT just walk into. It's exclusive - meaning members only. I wonder how much you have to pay in order to be a member?

We had a glass of champagne and then went to Trader Joe's to pick up some more alcohol/alcohol mixers ... sigh ~~ xoxo

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

Finally finished this book last night. I feel like I've been reading it for such a long time! I don't know when I have time to read novels while in the midst of finals, but I guess I do. In any case, what I thought about it: Well ... it was pretty long and interesting how the author weaved historical events and figures into her story. I don't know what is fiction and what is true as far as history goes. If you read it, you'll figure out clearly what one thing is fiction - or is it? Do vampires really exist? haha ~ hmm ...

Cucumber Water

It is again that time of the year when finals are around the corner and I am totally procrastinating with everything and anything that I can procrastinate with. It's already 1:44pm and I haven't started studying at all!! I've just been 1) cleaning 2) playing rock band 3) blogging 4) facebooking. I hope to start studying after this one blog!!

So cucumber water is my new drink of choice - probably for the rest of finals period. It's so pretty and it smells so fresh and it tastes so good. I got the idea from spa's of course and perhaps Poleng, but I don't recall seeing it there (probably since I'm always shoveling wings and a nice cold blue moon down my throat when I'm there).

Cucumber Water
refreshing
calorie-free

Ingredients
cold water
couple slices of fresh cucumbers

~ Heavenly ~

Twilight ~

So basically, my best friend Kristin and I have been in love with vampires since the 5/6th grade when we read Christopher Pike's "The Last Vampire" series. She even has a puppy named after Sita, the main character of the books! :) I took Annie and Adrienne to watch this movie this past weekend. I heard terrible things about it but I had at least read the first book and I guess I didn't mind too much having to sit through a vampire movie.

I'm kind of obsessed with the story now. I have read all 4 books now and I keep thinking about it. I don't know why. The movie was horrible. Although I do really like Edward Cullen's character and Robert P is pretty cute ... would recommend the movie to any vampire fans !~ But just beware, the acting kind of sucks and the story is kind of strange. I mean, think about it - a 17 year old mortal girl falls in love with a 80 year old vampire. They are suppose to be in love!

Despite all that, again - I'm obsessed with the story. I like vampires. I can't help it! :) I will look forward to watching the next 3 movies of the series - even if the acting is bad. It will be purely for Edward Cullen and vampires! :)

Happy Holidays ~
