I just wanted to share the news that today was the last day of the radiation treatment for Mom. She has received 33 treatments within 2 months.
She's doing really well considering. Her neck, although painful because of the "sunburn" looks really clean compared to a couple weeks ago. She used domboro soaks several times a day, silvidine (wrong spelling) "toothpaste" type of cream, and miaderm on her neck this whole time since around week 4 or 5. It has really helped.
She can't eat solid food yet and eating or drinking anything is very painful. However, while a lot of people use feeding tubes, she has managed to only lose about 15 pounds so far. She eats jook (porriage) and ensure type drinks to sustain herself. Because she has no saliva, she always feels like gagging or throwing up constantly.
However, she was really happy today that it was her last treatment. Ty, her favorite radiation therapist (the guy who strapped her down, made her put things in her mouth, and zapped her) got her sparkling apple cider to celebrate her last day today :)
